I gave a talk last week to CAP Business Clubs, and the theme was how to make small steps when starting your health & fitness journey.
When it came to questions and comments, one comment hit me like a ton of bricks.
It saddens me to think that someone would choose NOT to pursue positive health & lifestyle changes, because they thought that the changes they could make weren’t big enough to make a difference.
Improving your health can involve huge changes like moving home, changing job, taking up a new hobby or sport.
But, as with anything in life, often the most important changes are the small ones you make slowly.
This could be:
Getting a bit more or better quality sleep
Eating a bit less junk food
Drinking a little less alcohol
A little less screen time
A bit more exercise
The key to creating healthy lifestyle change is sustainability. Can you make small, sustainable changes in the areas that let you down the most?
Making big changes is great, but if you only have the capacity for small changes at the beginning then feel safe to make those adjustments gently but confidently.
I promise you, you will thank yourself in the future.
