This question is very important for me.

One of the most important parts of rehabilitation is remembering the point of it all.

It’s understanding what a movement problem actually means to you.

  • What do you feel is wrong?

  • How is this effecting your every day situation?

  • How would your life be different if you weren’t dealing with this issue?

By asking these questions we can quickly become very specific for the individual and understand their story.

For an athlete, the answer is often to get back playing, performing and feeling confident competing to the highest level.

For someone who isn’t an athlete, what they need to get back to might not necessarily be as intense, but is no less important.

You could have a challenging manual job or you could just want to have more energy to chase after the Grandchildren.

Knowing this allows us to be appropriate and person centred with our rehabilitation.

This helps you to feel heard.

It also allows you to see why we might use an exercise, or manual therapy or some particular lifestyle advice.

I find this massively helps with our success rate.

I want you to go back to your activity feeling understood, feeling in control and knowing you are ready.

When the end objectives are clear it allows everyone to work together cohesively towards that goal.

If you are feeling stuck and you would like help with a persistent pain or movement problem, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
